A dental implant is the closest available replacement for a lost tooth.

If you have lost a tooth, live with dentures that no longer fit, or are having a tooth extracted and want to consider your options for the future, we highly recommend implants as the most natural solution.

A dental implant is a titanium post that your dentist places into the jawbone. A crown (for single gaps or a small number of missing teeth), dentures or a bridge (for multiple missing teeth) then sits over the implant. These restorative elements sit over the implant exactly like a real tooth would sit naturally in the jaw.

Dental implants are strong, stable, are comfortable and provide the most aesthetic results for patients, especially compared to dentures, bridges and crowns unsupported by implants.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

  • The natural solution for tooth loss: Dental implants are the only solution that merges with your natural anatomy. Once they are placed into the jaw, the bone in the jaw grows around them as if they were real tooth roots.
  • Fixed and strong: Implant-supported teeth (crowns, dentures and bridges) won’t leave you with slipping teeth during mealtimes. They stay firmly in place, giving you natural chewing and biting ability.
  • Excellent aesthetic value: Not only do implants give you a set of teeth that look authentic, but they also preserve the health of the bone in your jaw, which prevents hollowing in the cheeks, as well as sagging skin in this area.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

We understand that choosing the right dental treatment can come with many questions. To help you feel informed and confident in your care, we’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions about this treatment. Our friendly team is always here to help if you need further information.

Am I suitable for a dental implant?

During an implant consultation, we can assess your suitability for implants by measuring the volume available in the jaw using our CBCT scanner.

If you do not have enough jawbone volume, we can perform a bone graft to create new bone to support the implant. We perform bone grafts in practice, so you won’t have to be referred elsewhere for this.

How long does it take to get an implant?

It can take up to 6 months to get a dental implant – this can sometimes be more if a bone graft or an extraction is needed prior to implant surgery.

Whilst this might sound like a long time, the results can last for 20+ years, and it remains the premium quality tooth replacement treatment available to patients.

Why choose Bromsgrove Dental Specialists?

At Bromsgrove Dental Specialists, our dentists have years of experience working with implant patients, and we take the expectations of our patients very seriously – we know choosing to have a tooth replacement is a significant step.

We design and place your restoration teeth (the tooth-like element that sits on top of your implant above the gum) in the most nature-mimicking way possible. This leaves you with a long-term solution that will keep you smiling for years to come.

If you are feeling a little nervous about treatment, we offer IV (intravenous) sedation, which many of our patients describe as ‘magic’ for managing their phobia and nerves.

We care for many patients who come in to see us after failed dental work elsewhere, and we pride ourselves on finding solutions for you (even if you have been denied treatment in the past or something might not have gone to plan at another dental practice). We will always find a way forward for you.
