Implants support dentures firmly in place, greatly increasing their stability and the ability to chew a variety of foods.

Whether you would like to replace a set of damaged dentures or ill-fitting dentures, or you would like to replace many missing teeth, we can help.

Implant-retained dentures are supported by implants, which sit in the jaw. We can use a small number of implants to retain a whole row of teeth, making this a cost-effective alternative to single implants for replacing many teeth.

The Benefits of Implant-Retained Dentures

  • Replace your current dentures: Non-implant dentures eventually become too big for your mouth. This is due to the jawbone receding over time, as an implant has no stimulation to help it stay intact. Implant-retained dentures will remain a good fit for your mouth for years and are much less likely to cause discomfort.
  • Fixed and strong: Implant-supported dentures won’t leave you with slipping teeth during mealtimes. They stay firmly in place, giving you natural chewing and biting ability. You will no longer have to think twice about eating crunchy and tough foods (which may previously have been a hazard for your dentures).
  • The aesthetic result you deserve: With your dentures firmly screwed into your implant, they mimic how real teeth sit in the mouth. This results in a set of teeth that look real and are compatible with your lip and mouth shape.
  • Easy to care for: Implant-retained dentures can be looked after in the same way as natural teeth.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

We understand that choosing the right dental treatment can come with many questions. To help you feel informed and confident in your care, we’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions about this treatment. Our friendly team is always here to help if you need further information.

What is the treatment process like?

Any implant-based treatment can take several months to complete. This is because there is a healing period during which the jaw and implants fuse.

Once a CBCT scan has been taken to assess your suitability, we can arrange for your implants to be placed under local anaesthetic (we also offer IV sedation if you are nervous). You will be given a temporary set of dentures to wear during the healing period (which generally takes between 3 and 6 months).

Your dentist will take digital scans of your mouth. These are used to make your unique dentures, considering the shade and shape of each tooth and smile alignment and symmetry.

Why choose Bromsgrove Dental Specialists?

At Bromsgrove Dental Specialists, our dentists have years of experience working with implant patients. We take our patients’ expectations very seriously—we know choosing to have a tooth replacement is a significant step.

We design and place your restoration teeth (the tooth-like element on top of your implant above the gum) in the most nature-mimicking way possible. This leaves you with a long-term solution that will keep you smiling for years.

If you are feeling a little nervous about treatment, we offer IV (intravenous) sedation, which many of our patients describe as ‘magic’ for managing their phobia and nerves.

We care for many patients who come in to see us after failed dental work elsewhere, and we pride ourselves on finding solutions for you (even if you have been denied treatment in the past or something might not have gone to plan at another dental practice). We will always find a way forward for you.
